Term 4
Reading: Students will continue to work on a range of comprehension strategies during whole class and small target teaching groups. These include: predicting, making text to self, text to text and text to world connections, critiquing and inferring character traits. We will also focus on maintaining fluency, expression and reading with the correct punctuation. Students will continue to work on and strengthen their Independent reading routines.
Writing: Students will continue to work on their independent writing routines. Writing workshops will involve scientific reports which will link with the STEM program and there will be a focus on the 6 +1 writing traits of Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions and Presentation. Students will develop their ability to write and think about various aspects of a topic. We will continue to develop our ideas for writing by using a range of graphic organisers to respond to our 'seeds'. Spelling: We will continue using the spelling approach, SMART Spelling. Students will be involved in daily spelling activities with a specific focus. We will continue exploring various graphs, digraphs, trigraphs, quadgraphs and split digraphs. At the end of each week students will be tested on their words and there will be weekly homework to support this approach. |
